Bylane Farm by Bob Rohr
Why I’m passionate about Bedford Audubon:
My love of birds and gardening led me to Bedford Audubon. The first time I got out of my car at Bylane Farm, it was magical… the charming house, the beautiful garden and sanctuaries, and wonderful people. Seeing all the life growing, flying, buzzing, and humming at Bylane Farm makes it my happy place!
More about me:
I worked in various industries including direct mail marketing and publishing before leaving the workforce to raise my two daughters. As they approached school-age, my husband and I decided to move from Manhattan to northern Westchester. It was important to me to bring life into our yard – initially with a bird feeder, and then by adding a birdbath, native plants, and by discontinuing the use of pesticides and other toxic chemicals. Our yard became like a sanctuary! The knowledgeable people who provide educational programs at Bedford Audubon helped me to achieve this. I’m so honored to be a part of this organization to help achieve our mission of connecting people to nature.
My favorite bird is the:
There are so many, but Barn Swallows hold a special place in my heart. They began nesting near my front door and having them there took my interest in birding to a whole new level.
