Habitat Renewal and
Garden Volunteer Days
Hands-on Learning Guided by Experts!
Each of us has the power to make a positive impact on birds and other wildlife, right in our own backyard. If we learn and utilize the principals of Habitat Gardening, our yards can become havens for our native flora and fauna. We can help you learn how!
Bedford Audubon offers two volunteer opportunities to learn and practice habitat gardening skills under the guidance of our experts: Habitat Renewal Volunteer Days and Garden Volunteer Days. Scroll down to learn more about each program. If you’d like more details or to sign up, email info@bedfordaudubon.org

Habitat Renewal Volunteer Days
Board Member and Naturalist Steve Ricker leads these workshop sessions in which he will teach you how to identify and remove invasive plants and why this practice is so vital to the ecosystem. In some sessions, we will be replanting native plants. The sessions are conducted entirely outside on our sanctuary and grounds, as well as in the Leon Levy Native Habitat Garden at Bedford Audubon. This is a great way to get some exercise, fresh air, and contribute to our communities’ wild animals and plants.
Tools and gloves are provided, but you can bring your own. Loppers and hand pruners are the most used types. Plants with thorns as well as Poison Ivy will be present.
Upcoming Dates:
Saturday, March 15, 11am-12:30pm
Saturday, April 12, 11am-12:30pm
Saturday, May 10, 11am-12:30pm
Saturday, June 7, 11am-12:30pm
Saturday, July 11, 11am-12:30pm

Garden Volunteer Days
You don’t need to be a Master Gardener to join professional native gardener Missy Fabel, Beth Metzger and other volunteers as we work in the Leon Levy Native Habitat Garden at Bedford Audubon. We rely on volunteers of all ages and abilities, and volunteering is a great way to get hands-on experience with cultivating native plants and gardening techniques, and learn about the birds, butterflies, and pollinators that call the Leon Levy Native Habitat Garden their home.
Volunteer sessions are scheduled weekly, beginning in April through the end of October.
New dates for spring to be announced soon!
