5 White-footed Mice (and there are lots of them this year!) moving into homes and outbuildings for the winter. Secure that birdseed!

13-14 Geminid meteor shower, mid-evening until dawn (though a Full Moon will make this typically prolific meteor shower harder to see well this year).

14 Full Moon.

15 Northern Mockingbirds still defending their territories against other fruit-eating birds like robins and waxwings, as well as other mockingbirds.

21 Winter Solstice, the day with shortest period of daylight of the year.

31 In newly fallen snow, look for fox tracks: they look very much like smaller dog tracks, but arranged in an almost straight line.
