Westchester County Citizens' Volunteer Monitoring Program

Once again, Linda Burke will head Bedford Audubon's participation in the Westchester County Citizens' Water Monitoring Program.

The 2008 Westchester County Citizens' Volunteer Monitoring Training Schedule has just been finalized! This exciting program provides an opportunity for citizen volunteers to help the County create a baseline of water quality data on streams throughout the county. It also provides a great opportunity for Westchester's towns and villages to fulfill some of their Phase II Stormwater Public Participation and Involvement requirements.

The training takes place on a full Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
We will spend the whole day outside learning and practicing how to use the stream monitoring equipment.

The training dates and locations are:
Saturday, April 26 - Hilltop Hanover Farm, Yorktown Heights
Saturday, May 3 - Rye Nature Center, Rye
Saturday, May 10 - Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Cross River
Saturday, May 17 - Teatown Lake Reservation, Ossining

To register for a training session, please email Susan Darling at sad8@westchestergov.com. She will send specific details about each training prior to the event, so it is important that you register at least one week in advance. Please feel free to share this brochure with others who might be interested in participating.

If you have any questions, please contact Susan Darling at sad8@westchestergov.com or call (914) 995-6535.

You can also contact Linda Burke at lburke@bedfordaudubon.org for more information about BAS's participation in this program.
